18 December 2011

I've been awake for over an hour. A young bloke called Richard Pollett has been running around my head. Richard was killed in a cycling accident on September 27th. I remember reading at the time of the young Q'ld Symphony Orchestra Violinist who lost his life. His obituary was on page 95 of yesterday's Courier. I read it and kept reading out to my wife Helen the achievements of this young bloke. M...an did he cramb a lot into his short time.

He obviously had passion with a capital "P".

While I was reading this my young bloke came out like thousands of others in Q'ld yesterday to let us know he'd just found out his O.P. score. He got a 4. He was happy we were happy for him. Now I have no idea what Richard Pollett got, but you can bet with his achievements it was a good one, and he had done himself and his family proud. But in the end it's only a number. It doesn't matter what you get. Today there's so many pathways to get where you want to. We're all on one. Like the old lady I was reading about the other day whose family couldn't afford to send her to Uni. She got her first degree at 69, and has since gone on to do more. Her secret to wringing all out of life. Never stop learning. Have a look at page 95 in yesterday's Courier.

It's not a bad place to start.
